Mind-altering sex caused a man to experience amnesia because within 10 minutes of intercourse he could no longer remember how he got there.
According to The Irish Medical Journal, a 66-year-old man in Ireland was taken to hospital after being stricken with a rare case of Transient Global Amnesia.
The unnamed patient explained that he had lost all memories of the past 24 hours and became upset that he had forgotten his wedding anniversary after checking the date.
His amnesia came within 10 minutes of having sex with his wife, which had happened to him under the same intimate circumstances seven years ago.

The Department of Neurology at Limerick University Hospital said the case shows that sex can lead to amnesia.
The report titled “Recurrent Postcoital Transient Amnesia Associated with Diffusion Restriction” mentioned how he lost his recent memory of the past two days.
It read: “On the afternoon of the presentation, he had had intercourse 10 minutes before the onset of the memory impairment.
“When he saw the date on his phone, he was shocked that he had forgotten his wedding day the day before.

He had even celebrated his wedding anniversary with his wife and family the day before.
“His autobiographical memory remained intact, but he had no recollection of that morning or the celebrations of the night before.”
The newspaper continued: “The man repeatedly questioned his wife and daughter about the events of that morning and the previous day.
“No other neurological symptoms were reported and upon arrival at the emergency department his neurological examination was completely normal.”

This amnesia followed a similar experience of the same man seven years earlier when he went to the hospital and, according to doctors, that episode also happened within 10 minutes of intercourse.
The scientists said in their report that the earlier amnesia event “came with an identical postcoital onset.”

Transient Global Amnesia has historically been associated with migraines or exercise. Likewise, it can be caused by hot or cold water, emotional stress, pain, and sexual intercourse.
It usually occurs in people between the ages of 50 and 70 and generally involves isolated incidents that are uncommon.
But at the same time, according to the study, there is an annual recurrence rate of between 6% and 10% of Transient Global Amnesia.
