According to Pankov, the new law will allow citizens under the age of 50 to conclude the first contract.
From now on, the restriction for service in the Russian army has become the end of working age:
- 65 years for men;
- 60 years for women.
“Up to what age can we now take citizens of the Russian Federation and foreign citizens into military service under a contract? You can answer absolutely exactly – up to the age of 50. Russians who are in the reserve as privates and sergeants are registered until the age of 50. Here, in fact, this is the category with which you can work,” said Pankov.
According to Andrei Kartapolov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, and Andrei Krasov, his deputy, a sufficient level of military professionalism can supposedly be achieved before the age of 40-50.
