Flemish doctor investigating monkey pox: “Many new and unknown viruses will sooner or later also come our way”

The monkey pox has found its way to Europe. Normally, doctors and virologists go to Africa to study the virus. Now, however, they are returning to Europe and applying their knowledge to us to fight the infamous disease. Doctor Laurens Liesenborghs of the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp also traveled home from Congo with an important message: “Reducing biodiversity will lead to more pandemics.”
