It was in the presence of the various partners of the Nava festival that the playwright Jean-Marie Besset unveiled and commented on the program. A festival firmly rooted in the Limouxin.
In 23 years, the festival of New Authors in the Aude Valley has evolved, it has expanded, diversified and also offers often unpublished plays which are mixed with shows already mounted and accessible in the territory. What’s more, since the last editions, it offers a cultural bridge with thematic meetings in the Institute of Mask Arts or cinematographic thanks to the complicity of Ciném’Aude and the Élysée hall.
“Come see the actors”
Against all odds, the festival and the theater resist in the century of netflix or other spotify. Moreover, the evolutions of actors on the boards during the Limoux summer nights sometimes take on something timeless.
This summer, the Nava festival will take place from July 21 to 30 and all the rooms will be set in the Flandry estate on the heights of the city. Six pieces will be presented to the public with two performances for some (The fever doctor July 22 and 23 and A German life July 27 and 28).
Opening, now faithful to the festival, Maxime d’Aboville will portray an atypical Limouxin from the other century. “The doctor has a fever” will mark the third installment of these characters, dear to the author Jean Marie Besset.
Misia serves “Reine de Paris”, a reading concert with the help of Julie Depardieu, Juliette Hurel (flute) and Hélène Couvert (Piano). Continuing, “La Métamorphose des Cigognes” is a show that has already acquired its letters of nobility, interpreted by Marc Arnaud, quoted with praise by the Parisian press.
“A German Life” will be the opportunity to find the still young Judith Magre, who plays Brunhile Pomsel, secretary to the ministry of Joseph Goebbels who waited until the age of 102 to deliver her memories.
Gabrielle Lazure, Coralie Syrig and Adrien Melin among others will be the actors of Jean Paul Tapie’s “Boy in question” “We say everything but we don’t see anything” a play not recommended for children under 15.
The epilogue of the festival will be given by “Élysée”. The author Jean-Claude Idée offers an immersion behind the scenes of power as well as the subtle relations between Chirac and Mitterrand, a strong episode of the Fifth Republic with the complicity of Christophe Barbier, the media political journalist.
Mister Paul at the little Montparnasse
Jean-Marie Besset continues the performances of Mister Paul at the Petit Montparnasse theatre. A program interrupted due to a health crisis which resumes until July 10 at the rate of 5 performances per week.
