Former Player Not Convinced by ‘The Red’ Chances

Jakarta

Ex-player Liverpool Dietmar Hamann not too sure about the chance of ‘The Red’ in final Liga Champions. The reason is the failure to win the Premier League.

Liverpool will face Real Madrid at the Stade de France, Sunday (29/5/2022) early morning WIB, in the final Liga Champions. This duel became a repeat of the 2018 final, at which time Madrid emerged victorious with a score of 3-1.

For Liverpool, this is the third title that can be achieved this season after the English League Cup and FA Cup. One trophy was released, namely in the Premier League where they had to settle for finishing one point behind Manchester City.

Although Liverpool have won two domestic trophies, former midfielder Didi Hamann said failure in the Premier League could affect the mentality of the players ahead of the final. Moreover, they are facing Real Madrid, who have experience and a winning mentality.

The slightest difference can be felt and differentiated.

“I think if Liverpool won the league last Sunday, I would be very confident they would win this game. But right now, I’m not too sure,” said Hamann. Liverpool Echo.

“Fabinho only returned to training today (Thursday), Thiago probably won’t be ready to play. His absence won’t be a free loss, but Liverpool will need to bring in a replacement. Psychologically, I feel like last Sunday’s result might be in Madrid’s favor.”

“I do think that with the way Liverpool’s domestic season ended, with City missing a penalty and drawing with West Ham and with them being two goals down and then finding a way to win, things didn’t go the way they wanted.

“Liverpool could and probably should have won and that disappointment is where the danger lies, I think. Liverpool should not underestimate Madrid, I think other teams are guilty of that and punished.”

“The more I think about the game, the more I don’t believe in myself. Because Madrid have beaten City, Chelsea and PSG and they have looked like they’ve run out in each of those meetings, nobody has given them a chance, but they can still find a way to bounce back. ” he added.
