At the end of May, military exercises are planned at test sites in five districts of Belarus, during which “deconservation” of weapons and equipment is envisaged. This is stated in the summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at 18:00 on Wednesday.
“At the end of May this year at the training grounds in the Belarusian districts of Brest, Vitebsk, Grodno, Minsk and Mogilev it is planned to conduct practical actions by units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
According to available information, the plan of these events envisages the removal of weapons and military equipment from the warehouses and marches, “said the Ukrainian General Staff.
From there they added that the situation in the direction of Volyn and Polesie remains unchanged.
At the same time, in the northern direction, the enemy continues to cover the section of the Russian-Ukrainian border in the Bryansk and Kursk regions, and to prevent the transfer of Ukrainian troops in other directions, shells civilian and military targets in the border areas.
Russia continues to suffer losses in both personnel and military equipment. “Regular information is received on the concentration of a significant number of wounded Russian servicemen in medical institutions near the settlements near the border with Ukraine,” the General Staff said.
Against this background, however, information emerged that dozens of Cherkasy Territorial Defense fighters had laid down their arms and complained that they had been sent to the Donetsk region without heavy weapons “for unknown reasons.” Their appeal was published in the Telegram channel of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade.
The military learned about the transfer to Donbass from the battalion commander on May 22.
It is stated that the fighters assessed the task, inspected the site and found that in order to carry out the mission, they needed heavy weapons, “which we as a territorial defense do not have, so the task is impossible – something we warned about battalion leadership ‘.
Then, on the orders of the commander, the fighters laid down their weapons, but are now threatened with arrest. Although they did not deviate from their duties, they were not able to perform them due to the fact that they only had vending machines.
They also draw attention to the fact that there are already dead and injured who have been denied “provision of qualified examination and treatment”.
“There is no funding for the battalion. They do not provide us with legal confirmation of the transfer (in Donbass) “, the fighter concluded, describing the transfer as illegal. He accused the command of turning the fighters into “cannon fodder” with such verbal orders.
Regarding recent statements that the war can only be resolved through diplomacy, Estonian Defense Minister Kale Laanet said the only move was to expel the Russians from Ukraine.
“If all the Western allies say that Ukraine must win this war, then for me the question is what are we pulling then? We will provide sufficient exercises, weapons systems to reduce the number of civilian deaths. That is, we must end this war as soon as possible. Not with diplomacy. “The Russians just have to be expelled from Ukraine,” Laanet said.
The Minister added that the Ukrainian people have shown great heroism to stop the aggressor and retaliate.
