Sciensano: “Corona vaccine protection is declining rapidly (especially against omikron), but booster temporarily boosts it”

Indeed, the protection against hospitalization remains quite good, which is also apparent from the Sciensano study† Both basic vaccination and the booster shot continue to offer between 90 and 94 percent more protection against hospitalization from delta than if you were not vaccinated.

For omikron, the booster provides 87 percent protection, although it also decreases to 66 percent after three to five months. In April, pharmaceutical company Pfizer announced that its booster shot is still 55 percent effective against hospitalization after three months.
