Russia claims it can create corridors for Ukrainian grain ships

Russia is cooperating with the UN on the issue of grain unblocking in Ukrainian ports, Rudenko claims. “We are working with the UN. This issue was discussed in detail during the visit of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to Moscow. “Further consultations are under way on how the UN can help in this situation,” the diplomat said.

Rudenko claims that Russia is ready to provide Ukraine with the necessary humanitarian corridors on a daily basis, which he allegedly does on an ongoing basis.

UN Convention on the Law of the Sea at the same time, it guarantees countries sovereignty of the coastal zone and free navigation of the seas outside this zone. Were it not for the Russian blockade of Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea, no corridors would have to be addressed.

Chinese pressure to unblock grain exports

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang I insists on creating a “green corridor” for grain exports from Ukraine and Russia. According to him, these corridors would help solve the impending food crisis.

The operation of most important ports in the south of Ukraine has been blocked by Russian invasion forces, and the country does not have how much to export cereals, which are an important trade item.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claims that 22 million tons of grain are blocked in ports. Yemen, Lebanon and Egypt, for example, depend heavily on grain imports from Ukraine and Russia.

Before the war, wheat supplies from Russia and Ukraine accounted for almost 30 percent of world trade. In addition, Ukraine is the fourth largest exporter of maize in the world and the fifth largest exporter of wheat. The UN food program buys about half of its wheat from Ukraine each year and warned of the dire consequences if Ukrainian ports are not opened.
