Launched the ball of the Champions League final for Liverpool vs Real Madrid

The Champions League final ball was unveiled for Saturday’s game in Paris, but unlike other versions, you can’t buy it yourself.

And players can’t take it home either.

adidas takes the opportunity to show its solidarity with those who have had to flee their homes around the world

Real Madrid and Liverpool will meet in the final, where this year, the ball will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to UNHCR and the UN Refugee Agency to help people forced to flee their homes from countries devastated by war.

The decision comes as adidas seeks to promote a “global message of peace from the stadium to the world” alongside UEFA.

Football’s governing body moved the game from Russia due to the country’s invasion of Ukraine, opting instead to play it at the Stade de France.

Adidas will also support the local grassroots community with the refurbishment of Zinedine Zidane’s playground in Paris.

The ball itself has an old-school feel to it, following a string of colorful and edgy versions over the years.

In a statement, adidas said: “Placed on the ball in bold letters as a statement from UEFA, ‘мир’ in Cyrillic script can be translated as ‘peace’, which sits above the English word: PEACE.
