Berlin – Sustainable travel can be cheap: from June to August, overnight stays in all 24 German a&o hotels are available for as little as 9 euros. The summer special is valid for one night in a multi-bed room, subject to availability. “We welcome the 9-euro ticket and add our 9-euro bed to it,” says CMO Phillip Winter.

“Discovering Germany,” says Winter, “is the ideal way to get back into travel after the last few years.” Especially for young people who appreciate sustainable mobility and accommodation. Central location and good accessibility are typical for all a&o locations. The 9-euro offer is valid per bed and night in a multi-bed room in all 24 German hotels. On request, extras such as bed linen, towels or breakfast can be booked flexibly.

a&o offers a total of 40 hotels in nine countries, making it the leading hostel brand in Europe. The a&o guest mix is diverse: backpackers are just as much part of the a&o target group as single travelers, families, school groups and clubs, senior citizens or business travelers.
By 2025, the company wants to be the first European hostel chain that is CO2 net zero – its own ecological footprint is to be reduced to a minimum and the rest compensated.
About a&o hostels
a&o was founded by Oliver Winter in 2000 and currently operates 40 hostels in 25 cities and nine European countries. The a&o guest mix is diverse: backpackers are just as much a part of the a&o target group as solo travellers, families, school groups and clubs. The number of business travelers and seniors is also increasing. The a&o Rotterdam City opened in May 2022 as the second location in the Netherlands; the first location in Great Britain opened in July 2021 with the a&o Edinburgh City. Three new locations were added in 2020: there were premieres in Poland, a&o Warsaw, and Hungary, a&o Budapest; the second house opened in Copenhagen. With around 28,000 beds and around 3 million overnight stays in the second Corona year 2021 (2020: 2.5 million overnight stays), a&o recorded sales of around 70 million euros (2021: 64 million euros; 2019: over 165 million euros). a&o’s goal is to be Europe’s “zero-emissions hostel chain” by 2025. The American investor TPG Real Estate has owned a&o since 2017. The company is still managed by the founder.
