The twelve-cylinder from Maranello has an unmistakable sound, even when placed under the skin of an SUV. Ferrari Thoroughbred his voice must be heard and in particular the roar of the naturally aspirated V12 that will power the main version of the first high-wheeled model of the Prancing Horse. In the last road outing of the prototype of the expected model of the Italian brand, the unmistakable sound of the engine was also captured. The unit was confirmed by the CEO of Ferrari himself, Benedetto Vigna, thus fueling the expectation for a car destined to rewrite the canons of the luxury Sport Utility segment.
The V12 powertrain that will equip the Ferrari Purosangue should be similar to what we have known about the 812, with a power upgrade that should bring this engine to deliver over 800 hp, a minimum figure sought to surpass the V8 of the Lamborghini Urus, the current benchmark in the super SUV category and at the same time also beat the 707 HP of the Aston Martin DBX707, the most performing version of Gaydon’s high-wheeled model. In the clip released by Varryx you can therefore hear the voice of the twelve-cylinder from Maranello, coming from under the camouflaged bodywork of the prototype used for tests on the roads around the Maranello factory.
Although Ferrari has already confirmed that the launch version of the Purosangue will not be electrified, it is almost certain that the Prancing Horse’s first SUV will also be offered with other subdivisions. The main candidate is the electrified V6 which recently debuted on the 296 GTB. In this case we would work to increase the battery capacity to increase the range in full electric, while maintaining a combined power close to 830 hp. We will have to wait a few more weeks to learn more about the Ferrari Purosangue, with the debut of the first high-wheeled model from the Maranello car manufacturer which could take place immediately after the summer and no longer on the occasion of Capital Markets Day.
