Gamers will soon be able to leave a game on their PC and pick up where they left off on their smartphone, according to Microsoft.
As part of a demo at TechEd Middle East, Microsoft showed off games that can be transferred between PCs, Xbox consoles and Windows Phone 7 Series smartphones.
The system maintains the game session from one device to another, allowing gamers to finish a game they started on their PC using their smartphone on the way to work, for example.
Unsurprisingly, the demo game wasn’t Modern Warfare 2. Instead, Microsoft showed off a basic Indiana Jones-style platformer, the kind commonly found on mid-’90s consoles. the ability for games served through Microsoft’s Xbox Live service to be playable on multiple devices.
The Windows Phone 7 series will launch at the end of this year.
