20 events are planned, from concerts and readings to language cafés. “People from 155 nations who speak more than 100 languages live together in Linz,” says Deputy Mayor Tina Blöchl (SP), who is responsible for integration. She emphasizes that the potential for cultural, social and economic development is enormous. Of course, it is also clear that living together in such a community brings with it challenges. It is important here to implement measures consistently and to adapt them continuously, says Blöchl. The event format is a good opportunity to get an idea of the diversity in the city.
On Saturday, May 28, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., a culinary and cultural encounter is on the program. At the “Table full of variety” in front of the new town hall, international delicacies and artistic works are shown.
On Tuesday, May 31, the “City of Diversity 2022” award will be presented together with Linz Kultur from 6 p.m. in the Old Town Hall. A total of twelve projects were awarded in the three categories “Prize for Integration”, “Prize for Interculturality” and “Prize for Intercultural Child and Youth Integration Work”.
