When Chris Rene Joks’ (32) dog whined, he was shocked when he discovered the reason. Someone had strewn six grilled sausages full of broken glass along the footpath in Alta the two were walking on.

Joks was out for a walk on a path along the pedestrian area at Aronnes in Alta when a groan came from the dog. His tamaskan, Maikoh, one and a half years old, had ingested a sausage full of what Joks thinks is broken window glass.
– I made her drop it and saw that glass was sticking out of the sausage that she was chewing on. When I checked her mouth, she had to cut both in the corner of the mouth and in the oral cavity. I got to take the sausage with me. Then we went on and found five more sausages, says Joks in a telephone interview with VG.
The case was first mentioned in Altaposten.
– It was pieces of glass that had been pushed into the sausage. In the worst case, this could mean the death of a dog, Joks told the newspaper.
Creates case
Police tweeted about the incident Monday night. The message reached the police at 20.19 after Joks had picked up the glass-soaked pieces of sausage he found in the area.
The police have been on the scene and investigated the case.
– We have been notified about it and been on site, but then everything was cleaned up. The man who found the pieces of sausage has picked them up and posted messages on the notice board in Alta on Facebook. We have been in contact with him, says operations manager Lars-Rune Hagen to VG.
– Will a case be opened?
– Yes, we create a case and investigate. If anyone is aware of this and has seen anything, we ask that people contact the police, he encourages.
– Made to intentionally injure
The dog owner Jok himself took action immediately after he had picked up as many as six sausages that had been laid out on what he estimates to be 3-4 meters apart. He posted a warning to other dog owners on the notice board in Alta on Facebook, called the police and alerted neighbors he knows with a dog.
– There was a lot of response to the Facebook post, says Joks.
He has no theory about who may have laid out the sausages, but is convinced that it was done on purpose.
– I think there are some who have deliberately done this to harm animals or possibly harm children. The footpath is located right next to a primary school and kindergarten. I even have small children, they are not always so critical of what they put in their mouths. This could have been much worse, he believes.
