A new survey has just revealed that 9 out of 10 French people admit that work has an impact on their mental health.

The fact of to work can quickly impact the Mental Health. Whether in terms of workload or professional pressure, the employee can quickly find himself stressed, tired or even depressed. According to a new survey conducted on behalf of Moka.carea specialized support service for companies, we learn that 9 out of 10 French people say that their work has a direct impact on their mental health.

The impact of work on mental health

Conducted among 3,836, this new survey reveals, on the contrary, that personal problems are directly felt in their mood at the office. Among the French respondents who admitted not showing their weaknesses at work, whether with their colleagues or with their boss, 76% said they had never talked about their psychological concerns with their superiors.

Etienne Bidon, the co-founder of Moka.care, laments in a press release: “Even today, we tend to pay attention to our psyche only when it is undermined. Basically, we were never taught to take care of our mental health on a daily basis like we were taught to brush our teeth when we were children or to play sports. However, health is a whole”.

The investigation then reveals that only 29% of respondents actively take care of their mental health. 25% say they consult a health professional, 23% do sports and 6% yoga.

With the Covid-19 pandemic, teleworking has also had an impact on the mental health of working French people. Public Health France recently underlined in a report that two years after the start of the health crisis, the mental health of the French remains generally degraded, with in particular an increasingly high proportion of suicidal thoughts. The organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Health adds in particular that “the health crisis has had a lasting and significant effect on the mental health of the population, in particular in terms of anxiety-depressive symptomatology and sleep problems”.
