Jakarta –
Indonesian volleyball team I’ve been waiting for a number of competitions to end SEA Games 2021 Vietnamese. But not necessarily the way, why?
The Indonesian volleyball teams, both male and female, won medals in the biggest multi-event in Southeast Asia which took place 12-23 May. The men’s team won gold, while the women’s team won a bronze medal.
The achievements of the two teams, especially the boys, also received appreciation from a number of parties. There is no exception for praise from participating countries such as Thailand and Cambodia. This was conveyed directly by the Manager of the Indonesian Volleyball Team, Loudry Maspaitella, when asked about the follow-up program for the men’s team.
“Ideally there is a (continued championship) only this is the first COVID-19 problem and the second is a classic funding problem. That’s what makes us not dare to go far into planning. But ideally this team should continue,” Loudry told detiksport, Monday (23/5/2022).
“Without intending to be overconfident, these are comments from friends from other countries such as Cambodia, Thailand saying, ‘You don’t bring this team. This is a different level for the SEA Games’. my era, how to win a gold medal’ and that has been going on for years. Well, now my friends should think about Asia,” he explained.
“So it means we think Asia is not because of blind ambition but we have the competence and the children are capable. Let’s think Asia, so that every SEA Games is definitely gold, if the level is Asian.”
Loudry explained that the agenda for the Asian level itself is already in the calendar program this year. Among them are the Asian League and the Challenge Asia Cup 2022. But unfortunately, from the two, Indonesia did not qualify for the rankings.
For the record, to be able to play in the Asian League, the participating countries must be ranked in the top 8 in Asia. Meanwhile, the challenge level must be ranked in the top 16.
“The problem is that Indonesia is outside the top 16 ranking. This happened because during the three years of COVID-19, we had never participated in the championship. While other countries were still active. Well, our inactivity in the international world for 3 years had an impact on the rankings,” Loudry said. .
Indonesian volleyball, said Loudry, if you have a commitment, you can take advantage of the presence of Rita Subowo, former Chair of the Indonesian Olympic Committee, who is also the President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) to negotiate to be able to appear, especially in the Challenge Asia Cup which starts this August.
“It should be able to be lobbied, but the important thing is that PBVSI is serious because what AVC was afraid of, this was Indonesia’s (volleyball) disease in the first place, yes, not me, so I registered but once the draw didn’t come (no funds),” he said.
Regardless of those Asian-level agendas, loves Indonesia itself has agreed with the Southeast Asian confederation to hold a league at the Southeast Asian level in September.
Loudry said there were at least four countries that had agreed to field the men’s and daughter’s teams. Besides Indonesia, there are Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines. But again, he hopes that this can be done with the full commitment of the parent organization of Indonesian volleyball.
“Hopefully it can be carried out. If I am not a problem with the SEA Games, I am pegged on people’s opinions. I judge, sorry without intending to be arrogant, don’t get me wrong, this is indeed the level of children far away. You could say this generation is the best that Indonesia has,” he said. .
“Therefore, I hope that this momentum will not be broken. Don’t be like Thailand now. Imagine that from 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 they continued to be champions, so they changed right away now they didn’t get a medal.
“I don’t want that to happen to these children. That’s why we have to have a coating because three years later, all of these children are still in their golden age. It’s our job to prepare it,” Loudry emphasized.
