“The enterprise does not work, it is idle, according to the order, until an indefinite time. The shelling is constant, the administrative building is partially destroyed. There were direct hits in the mines, the material warehouse,” Yurin told the publication.
According to him, the enterprise cannot produce salt, since it is impossible to endanger people. In addition, most of the employees have already evacuated. The head of the enterprise added that none of the workers were killed or injured as a result of the shelling.
Yurin explained that Artyomsol stopped in April, because it became impossible to export finished products by rail. He clarified that the junction station, from which wagons with salt depart, is regularly shelled.
“We can export only a small part by cars. And if the railway is not working, we can’t actually do it either,” he explained.
The head of the enterprise added that all stocks of finished products were taken out of warehouses in April. In his opinion, now Ukraine will have to import more salt from abroad.
“We were the largest salt mining enterprise in Europe. Among our regular customers are Hungary, Poland, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Romania,” Yurin complained.
