Starbucks said it was suspending “any business in Russia, including the supply of Starbucks products,” and that the world-famous brand would no longer be represented in Russia.
“We condemn Russia’s horrific attacks in Ukraine, and we sympathize with all those affected,” Kevin Johnson, president of Starbucks, quoted the company’s website as saying.
The company was shut down in Russia in early March, where it has been present since 2007. Recently, there were 130 Starbucks cafes and about 2,000 employees in Russia.
Starbucks has promised to pay employees in Russia for another six months and help them find a new job. Neither the deadlines for Starbucks’ exit from the Russian market nor the financial aspects of the decision have been made public.
