President United States of America, Joe Bidenvowed to help the military Taiwan if China dared to invade the area, Monday (23/5).
“Yes, that is our commitment,” Biden said when asked by reporters whether the US military would intervene if China invaded and took Taiwan by force.
Biden then continued, “We agree with the One China policy. We signed it, but the idea took force [Taiwan] unsuitable.”
The statement, which is believed to make China hot, was made by Biden in Tokyo, Japan, on his tour of East Asia.
The number one person in the US also warned that China should not invade Taiwan because it could cause serious problems.
“This will devastate the entire region and be another act similar to what happened in Ukraine.”
Biden then linked successful Western efforts against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to the lessons Beijing might learn about Taiwan.
“What kind of signals are sent to China regarding the consequences and costs of seizing Taiwan by force?” said Biden.
Biden said China also has no jurisdiction to take Taiwan by force. He hopes that China’s invasion of Taiwan will not happen.
“It depends how strong the world explains [akan ada biaya untuk invasi],” said Biden.
Biden is known to be visiting a number of countries in Asia such as South Korea and Japan to strengthen cooperation and reduce China’s influence in the region.
He will also meet with Quad leaders Japan, India and Australia in Tokyo.
Meanwhile, the diplomatic relations between the United States and China are not harmonious. They often clash and compete on many things, from trade to regional issues.
Regarding regional issues, the US supports Taiwan which wants to become independent. Meanwhile, China has criticized countries that support Taiwan, a territory that dissident Beijing claims wants its independence.
