Jakarta –
Some netizens questioned the fate of the Mandalika Circuit asphalt which was used for the track day event last weekend. They are also worried that the asphalt on the main track will be damaged because it is used for drifting. But actually it’s nothing to worry about, because MotoGP racers only suggest that the Mandalika Circuit is often used for local racing, including being open to the public such as on track day events.
After holding international racing competitions such as the Asia Talent Cup, WSBK, and MotoGP, finally the Mandalika Circuit was opened for the general public who wanted to feel the sensation of traveling around the new circuit that is the pride of the Indonesian people.
The circuit, which is located in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, for the first time held a track day on May 21-22 2022, and involved motorbikes and cars. Spectators can also watch this event with a fairly affordable ticket price, which is Rp. 10 thousand per person, then a motorbike ticket of Rp. 20 thousand, and a car ticket of Rp. 30 thousand. The tickets were sold on the spot at the event location.
Well, apparently many netizen comments on the Instagram account @themandalikagp question the fate of the Mandalika Circuit asphalt when it was used for the track day activity. They are worried that the asphalt of the Mandalika Circuit will be damaged because it is used for construction creased and burnout.
“It’s a shame to see the asphalt digitally,” said the account @deo********.
“The asphalt sticks out,” said the account @arie*********.
“Mandalika made a drift and said he wanted to do a drag. Definitely a burnout. Isn’t the asphalt damaged? Just a suggestion, it’s better to have a touring racing event like the one that Om Fitra Eri is participating in,” said the account @vick******.
Can the track day activities carried out at the Mandalika Circuit damage the asphalt of the circuit? MotoGP rider from the Suzuki Ecstar team, Alex Rins, actually said otherwise. A new circuit like the one in Mandalika will get better if it is often used for racing.
Before the Mandalika MotoGP in March 2022, Rins once said, if it is often used to race, then the racing line at the Mandalika Circuit will slowly form. Another effect, asphalt will increasingly have a good grip on vehicle tires. At that time, Rins even suggested that the Mandalika Circuit be used for local races by the general public first.
“Maybe a week before (MotoGP) came here they could allow all the bikes on the streets to race here for more grip on the track, or maybe do car racing, with rental cars, somehow,” Rins was quoted as saying. from Antara (14/2/2022).
