The duel of the Nordic opponents had a rapid decline and the Swedes got the puck into the net in the 3rd minute. However, the Norwegian coach took the “challenge” and the goal did not pay for the goalkeeper’s defense in the game. In the next minutes, both teams worked out a chance, but the score did not change. The “three crowns” were given in the 11th minute, Johannesen knocked the puck into the net in a power play, the goal was attributed to Peterson, who threw the puck in front of the goal. The Norwegians then played three power plays, briefly 5 to 3, but they failed to equalize.

The Swedes decided the match in the second period, when they broke the net four times. Nylander took advantage of the power play, Peterson took the lead a minute after him, Asplund added a fourth goal in the 32nd minute and adjusted to 5: 0 two and a half minutes before the end of the second act of Wallmark.

The Norwegians recorded an honorable success right after the second break, when Fladeby prevailed, but Friberg returned the five-goal lead to the Swedes in less than two minutes. A curious situation took place in the 44th minute. Haga threw the puck into the offensive third, but he bounced off the referee’s foot and ended up in the Swedish goal, as Hellberg was waiting for him behind her. The arbitrators consulted for a long time and in the end they did not recognize the goal. In the 50th minute, Asplund added the seventh Swedish goal and the favorites managed the duel from the winning end without any problems.

post-match votes (source: iihf.com):

William Nylander, forward Sweden, balance 1 + 2: “I felt good on the ice. Overall, as a team, we got into the pace over time. We fought for the result and achieved an important victory.”

Mathis Olimb, Captain of Norway: “Today we didn’t have the energy our team needed. We were an outsider and we don’t have a chance in this role without high work ethic. It wasn’t our best performance.”
