CERNOBBIO – The 1937 Bugatti 57 S by Andrew Pisker won the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2022. Always a symbol of elegance and one of the most expensive models in the world, the Bugatti 57 was reinterpreted in this version with a sportier version (this explains the reason for the initials S) thanks to an 8-cylinder 3.2 engine and a shortened, highly performing bodywork, created by the French coachbuilder Vanvooren and inspired in the lines by the cultural and artistic movement Art Déco.

Search for elegance

Elegance was precisely the criterion that guided the jury chaired by Lorenzo Ramaciotti for the assignment of the most prestigious prize, the title of “Best of Show” to the Bugatti 57 S.

“Elegance is what differentiates our competition from the others and is a selection criterion that has allowed this competition to become the most important and coveted in the world”, tells Corriere Motori Lorenzo Ramaciotti, former head of design at Pininfarina and of the Fiat Chrysler group.

50 cars divided into seven classes

Andrew Pisker’s 57 S got the better of it about fifty very fierce rivalscars among the most precious and important ever built with a value, very often, ultramillionaire. Seven subdivision classes thematic of the specimens on display for the 2022 edition, including one exclusively dedicated to BMW M, the sports department of the Bavarian manufacturer (partner of the event) which this year celebrates its firsts 50 years of business.

The same was for Ferrari which has had a dedicated class for its 75 years and eight models competing including the legendary 365 P Berlinetta Speciale Three Seats from 1966, one of the two models that belonged to Gianni Agnelli and Luigi Chinetti (historic importer of the Reds in the USA).
