Actor Daniel Krejčík and his partner Matěj Stropnický have accommodated several Ukrainian refugees at their castle in Osečany in the Příbram region in recent months. As Krejčík stated, since then they have been through situations they would not think they would experience. But the most difficult test came now that they found out that one of the refugees was seriously ill.
Krejčík did not contact his fans for a long time, which was the reason he explained to them on Saturday. He has been facing a difficult test in recent weeks – jone of the inhabitants of their chateau is seriously ill.
“We took Mrs. Olga to the hospital for abdominal pain for examination. She thought she would have kidney stones or a slightly stomach upset. The diagnosis the doctor gave was different. An incurable metastatic disease at a very serious stage,” Krejčík described.
The doctor gave the couple instructions on what to do next and what needed to be arranged. However, both were so affected by the situation that they forgot to ask the doctor to tell Olga her diagnosis. “The idea that an unsuspecting Mrs. Olga would take me to oncology woke me up. Matěj told her that the condition was serious and that she had to rest a lot and be calm,” Krejčík wrote. When he took Olga to the hospital for tests, she asked him to translate her medical reports.
Formative experience
Krejčík called this conversation a formative experience that he will remember for the rest of his life. “Communicating this form of diagnosis to a person, even with the help of a translator, was an experience that I can hardly shake off in the coming days,” Krejčík confided.
The actor confided in the story on social networks also because he needed to get a translator for another examination by Mrs. Olga. It didn’t take long and he found it thanks to social networks. “I did not expect what we would experience in the coming days, how we will play a crucial role in other people’s lives and how much it will change me as a human being. But nothing will change my faith in hope and strength of determination,” Krejčík added.
