Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy has broadly talked about the future of the Star Warsfranchise. According to her, it is crucial that the franchise moves away from the films about the Skywalker family.Since Disney acquired Lucasfilm, the company has referred to the three trilogies as the Skywalker Saga. The films tell a more or less continuous and interrelated story. The Skywalker saga also includes a few spin-offs, so it’s all about the same characters.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kathleen Kennedy says the future of the Star Warsfranchise depends on continuing beyond the Skywalker Saga.
“I think it’s crucial. If you just stay within the construct of George’s stories, get on with that, it’s wrong. It’s up to us to keep going, to keep moving forward and maintain a connection with the Skywalker saga. That now requires a lot of time and a lot of energy to ensure.”
