David Benavidez took advantage of the recent defeat of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez before Dmitry Bivol to expose all the errors of the Guadalajara before the Russian.
“What Canelo did was that he kept trying to knock him down and hit him with power punches. When he realized that he had to do something new, he was already exhausted. That’s what happens with him,” the boxer explained in an interview with Figth HubTV.
“He thinks he can knock everybody out and hit everybody in the arm, and their arm is going to fall off. It doesn’t happen with everybody. It can happen with one or two guys, but it doesn’t happen with everybody else.” added the American.
Likewise, Benavidez said that Bivol exposed the weak points of the undisputed 168-pound champion.
“Bivol also taught us a lot. He exposed Canelo a little more than people thought he could be exposed. It was a good fight. I’m very happy for Bivol. He did exactly what he had to do and shocked the whole world,” he said. .
The Arizona nativesigned that Canelo is afraid of him and continues to challenge him in search of a fight at 168 pounds in the future: “If Canelo doesn’t want to fight me, let him leave the belts.”
Benavidez returns to the ring this Saturday night against David Lemiux to fight for the Interim Super Middleweight World Title of the World Boxing Council (WBC).
After his defeat against Bivol, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and his wife Fernanda Gómez enjoy their first wedding anniversary and walk around the island of Mykonos, in Greece.
The couple looks happy in the pictures and they seem to be enjoying these days, away from it all and, particularly Canelo, without training, boxing gear or the pressure of preparing for a fight.
