Bremerhaven – Finally something is happening!
The fishing companies on the North Sea and Baltic Sea can hope for federal aid of up to 35,000 euros to relieve the high fuel prices. The budget committee gave the green light for 10 million euros.
The German Fisheries Association responded with satisfaction: “The funds are urgently needed to avert imminent insolvencies and to continue to secure market supplies,” said Association President Gero Hocker.

The association quoted a shrimp fisherman from East Friesland, according to which 60-80% of the proceeds from the catches had to be spent on fuel. “There is simply nothing left for the fishermen. If something doesn’t go into the account soon, many will lose their boats and homes.”
Gitta Connemann (CDU), federal chairwoman of the SME and Economic Union: “The fishermen are up to their necks in water. The EU funds must be paid out immediately and unbureaucratically. Otherwise it means shipwreck for the fishermen on the North Sea coast. No fishermen – no crab rolls.”
