President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about how food, water and ammunition were delivered to Ukrainian soldiers at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. About this President informed journalists on the air of the telethon.

Ukrainian pilots risked their lives, delivering everything they needed to Azovstal for weeks and taking out the wounded. According to him, on this route, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost many pilots who knew that 90% of their colleagues flying there would not return, but this did not stop them.

“A very large number of our pilots died, unfortunately,” Zelensky explained. “Absolutely heroic people who knew that it was difficult, that it was almost impossible to fly to Azovstal and bring them medicine, food, water, take away the bodies, the wounded, it was almost impossible.”

Such military operations took place behind the scenes, without comment from the official command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There were no air corridors to Azovstal due to the activity of powerful Russian air defense.
