Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said on state television that the laser weapon destroyed a five-second drone on Tuesday, according to the state news agency Tass.
Borisov further said that newly developed laser weapons in the long run will allow the Russians to save on expensive long-range missiles.
In his video speech to the people on Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj compared the claim with Nazi Germany’s claim that they had invented a new weapon that could reverse the outcome of the war in the days when it became clear that they would lose World War II, writes BBC.
– The clearer it became that they had no chance in the war, the more propaganda came about an incredible weapon that would be so powerful that it guaranteed a turning point. Then we see that Russia, in the third month of a full-scale war, is trying to find its “miracle weapon”. This clearly shows how failed the action is, Zelenskyj said.
