Martial law and mobilization deadlines may be extended: Zelensky’s bills are already in the Rada – news of Ukraine, Politics

Martial law and terms of mobilization may be extended in Ukraine – relevant bills of the President Vladimir Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.

The Ukrainian parliament today, May 18, registered two bills: on the extension of the general mobilization period (7390) and on the extension of the martial law in Ukraine (7389). The initiator of both bills is Zelensky. The texts of the drafts are not currently available on the Rada website.

Initially, the President, by his decree introduced martial law in Ukraine from 05:30 February 24, 2022 for a period of 30 days. Then Rada extended martial law from March 26 for another 30 days – until April 25. After that, the Rada voted to extend martial law for another 30 days – until May 25.

The three-month period for general mobilization expires on May 25. Formerly in military command admittedthat the mobilization will be extended.

UPDATED AT 18:00. The texts of bill No. 7389 and accompanying documents appeared on the website of the Rada: Zelensky proposes to extend martial law from May 25 immediately for 90 days. Previously, martial law was only extended for 30 days.

The president also proposes to extend the deadlines for the general mobilization by 90 days.
