Inflation in April: Genoa in ninth place in Italy with + 6.6%, Liguria fourth in the region

Genova. Inflation slows down in April, but remains above the national average in Liguria and Genoa.

According to the data communicated by Istat compared to March, the consumer price index stops at + 6.6%, Liguria in fourth place in Italy behind Trentino Alto Adige, Sicily and Sardinia.

In the regional capitals, Genoa is placed in ninth place with + 6.6%.

Compared to March, the situation improves: Liguria was third in Italy with + 7.1%, while Genoa, with the same percentage, was paired with Bari and Perugia in ninth place.

According to the consumer union, inflation of + 6.6% in Genoa translates into the higher annual additional expenditure equivalent on average to € 1601, which rises to € 2564 for a family of 4 members. For Liguria it goes from 1480 to 2442 euros.

The slowdown in inflation in Italy, Istat underlines, is mainly due to energy prices (whose growth goes from + 50.9% in March to + 39.5%) and is attributable to both the regulated component (from + 94.6% to + 64.3%) and the non-regulated component (from +36 , 4% to + 29.8%). The prices of recreational, cultural and personal care services also decelerated (from + 3.3% to + 2.4%). On the other hand, the prices of transport services accelerate (from + 1.0% to + 5.1%), those of processed food goods (from + 3.9% to + 5.0%), those of durable goods (from + 1.6% to + 2.2%) and non-durable goods (from + 1.3% to + 1.9%).
Therefore, “core inflation”, net of energy and fresh food, accelerates from + 1.9% to + 2.4% and that net of energy goods alone from + 2.5% to +2, 9%.
