The incentives for green cars and motorbikes start from Monday 16 May. The decree in the Official Gazette sanctioned its immediate operation. A total of approximately 2 billion has been allocated for the measure in 3 years (2022, 2023 and 2024, 650 million for each year).
What the decree provides and how does the car and motorcycle bonus work?
Car incentives: details on the Bonus
Il Car and motorcycle bonus provides incentives for electric, hybrid and low-emission vehicles. The discount can reach 5,000 euros for less polluting models.
here are the details:
- Per electric cars that do not exceed the price of 35,000 euros, a contribution of 3,000 euros can be requested. With the scrapping of a vehicle of less than 5 euros, an additional 2,000 euros are expected;
- Per plug-in hybrid vehicles that do not exceed the price of 45,000 euros (excluding VAT), the contribution is 2,000 euros with the addition of a further 2,000 euros in case of scrapping;
- Per vehicles with traditional low-emission engine and certain full and mild hybrid models sold at a price of up to € 35,000 (excluding VAT) the bonus is € 2,000 only with scrapping.
Motorcycle incentives: details on the Bonus
Let’s move on to mopeds and motorcycles:
- Per i electric and hybrid models (cat. L1e, L2e, L3e, L4e, L5e, L6e, L7e) the expected contribution is 30% of the price up to 3,000 euros and 40% up to 4,000 euros in case of scrapping for classes from Euro0 to Euro3 ;
- I factory new thermal models (cat. L1e, L2e, L3e, L4e, L5e, L6e, L7e) can obtain, against a 5% discount from the seller, a bonus equal to 40% of the purchase price and up to 2500 euros with scrapping.
The objective of the Bonus is the platform
The objective of the car and motorcycle bonus is clear: support the market tried by the war in Ukraine and the shortage of raw materials. April sales plummeted 44.4% from pre-Covid levels and 33% from the same month 2021.
Giancarlo GiorgettiMinister for Economic Development, wanted the creation of a fund of 8.7 billion to support the transition of companies towards electric mobility.
The sales contracts linked to the Bonus are valid as of May 16, while the platform dedicated to car bookings will be launched on 25 maggio.
