YouTube’s invite-only project for Shorts Creator

With the new invite-only program, YouTube wants to actively promote and bring together promising shorts creators.

Short videos are the social trend of 2022! TikTok has shown the way and not only YouTube, but also Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Co. are following suit with their own versions of short video content to emulate TikTok’s recipe for success. Recently it was announced that Instagram is now even testing a following tab for reels, so that the Instagram app experience is even more similar to that of TikTok.

What use is the community project to invited shorts creators?

Social media expert Matt Navarra tweeted that YouTube launched the Shorts Creator Affiliate Program. The focus here is on building a community for shorts creators on the video platform. With this, the company wants to give selected promising creators the opportunity to become part of a shorts community by invitation, in which creators can come into contact with like-minded people and exchange ideas. Other projects, interviews and exclusive events, all geared towards Shorts Creator, are also planned.

The success of shorts and co.

Not following the short video trend could result in social platforms losing many users to the competition or even becoming irrelevant. A scenario that successful social companies do not even want to imagine. It is therefore not surprising that shorts, reels, spotlight and many other new formats are being launched and diligently pushed on YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat and Co. The latter is done, for example, by creator programs for monetizing short video content. As a result, YouTube shorts have also become very attractive for creators, for example, and have become one of the most important parts on the video platform thanks to the algorithm.

Short videos are so popular, among other things, because social users in the 2020s have so far preferred comparatively shorter content and want to be entertained quickly in the course of the information and communication flood. That’s why shorts, TikToks and reels have become so important for the big social companies: They ensure views, user growth, new advertising opportunities and lucrative sources of income. For example, reels make up over 20 percent of time spent on Instagram. And TikTok is working on an improved Adjust Clip feature to make it easier for creators to produce videos.
