The Calgary Flames and New York Rangers each qualified for the second round of the NHL playoffs with an overtime win in the crucial seventh game.
The Flames beat the Dallas Stars 3-2 (0-1, 2-1, 0-0) at home in the North American professional ice hockey league. Johnny Gaudreau scored Calgary’s winner after 15 minutes of overtime. In the second playoff round, the Flames meet the Edmonton Oilers around the German ice hockey pro Leon Draisaitl.
The Rangers celebrated a 4:3 (1:1, 1:2, 1:0) home win against the Pittsburgh Penguins and will face the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round. Artemi Panarin scored the deciding goal for Rangers in the fifth minute of extra time in an overtime game.
