Card problems across the country: – Many will be disappointed

Almost no card terminals in Norway are working right now.

TV 2 has confirmed this at both Rema Eidsvåg in Bergen, Rema in Drammen and Open Bakery in Oslo.

Nets, which is a supplier of payment terminals, states on its website that «an ongoing incident leads to failed transactions for bank terminals throughout Norway. Investigations are ongoing ».

– We have to solve this creatively with Vipps. This is one of the big trading days of the year, and there is, to put it mildly, a bit of a crisis, but we take it with a smile. We expect to turn over more than one and a half million kroner today, says Morthen Hordvik-Hansen, general manager of Rema 1000 Eidsvåg, to TV 2.

The wine monopoly hit

Vinmonopolet also informs about corps problems all over the country.

Press officer Jens Nordahl says that the problems can lead to disappointment among customers.

– This problem seems to be bigger than what we have control over. What I know now is that it is not possible to pay by card. It is very boring for our customers, and many will be disappointed if they do not get to celebrate May 17 exactly as planned.

Nordahl adds that the day is still young, and that one must hope the problem is solved.

– May 16 is historically a big sales day, so we can hope this works out. We may have some ice in the stomach for the time being, says Nordahl.

TV 2 has spoken to an employee at a wine monopoly on Grünerløkka in Oslo. There they could tell that it is only possible to pay in cash or order goods home from the internet. They do not have the resources to help customers with backup solutions.

DNB informs TV 2 that the problem does not lie with them.

– There is nothing wrong with us, but with one of the suppliers. We are in dialogue with the supplier and will see how quickly it can be resolved, says communications consultant Stål Ulvin Garberg in DNB to TV 2.

– It seems that all banks have the same challenges, Garberg adds.
