Sales Director of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID), Erwin Djajadiputra, admitted that he was surprised that 1,700 units of the new Ioniq 5 electric car had been ordered by consumers. Even though this electric car has only produced 100 units as of April 2022.
The Ioniq 5 is Hyundai Indonesia’s new weapon to promote its electric car model in Indonesia. Produced locally at the new factory in Cikarang, Bekasi, Ioniq 5’s SPK (Vehicle Order Letter) number exceeds expectations.
“As of yesterday (9/5/2022) it was about 1,700. But every day it will continue to increase, about 50-60 (SPK),” Erwin told reporters in Jakarta, Friday (13/5).
“Because production was only last month (April) then we started, so there were only around 100 (we produced). From the start, we were surprised, the term is that the interest from the community is quite high,” continued Erwin.
For information, Hyundai’s sales data noted that the Signature Long Range type was the most popular with more than 70% of the total SPK, followed by the Signature Standard Range, Prime Long Range, and Prime Standard Range.
In terms of color, Gravity Gold Matte was the most ordered with more than 50% of the total SPK, followed by Magnetic Silver Metallic, Optic White, Midnight Black Pearl, and Titan Gray Metallic. IONIQ 5 also managed to record the furthest order from a customer who is domiciled in Papua.
