For reasons that have not yet been clarified, a 33-year-old left the roadway near Neuss on the A57 in the direction of Nijmegen in the early hours of the morning and was seriously injured.
According to the first accident investigations, the Greek citizen left the road with his Audi near the Neuss-Zentrum exit and crashed into the concrete foundation of a traffic sign. The 33-year-old was trapped in the wreckage of his Audi. The fire brigade was able to free the man from the destroyed vehicle after about 40 minutes. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance for intensive care. Danger to life could not be ruled out at this time. Due to the recovery and rescue work, the directional lane in the area of the accident site had to be completely closed. Traffic could be diverted via the Neuss-Zentrum junction. The road was reopened around 6:00 a.m. There were no major traffic disruptions. The traffic accident recording team of the Düsseldorf police secured the traces of the accident on site.
