Simone Inzaghi’s Inter have become the third Italian team to beat Juventus three times in the same season.
Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final win over Juve took Inter to three wins over the Bianconeri in three competitions this season.
The only precedents were in the 1940s before the introduction of the Supercoppa.
In 1940-41, Fiorentina won 3-2 in Turin and 5-0 in Tuscany in their two league encounters, while La Viola also won 5-3 in the Coppa Italia round of 16 .
Two seasons later, Lazio repeated the feat by winning 5-3 at the Stadio Olimpico and 4-2 away from home. The Biancocelesti also secured a 3-2 Coppa Italia win in the Round of 16.
Despite the introduction of the Supercoppa from 1988 and the increase in domestic clashes in European competition, it took 79 years for Juve to lose again three times against the same opposition.
Inter triumphed in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday when there could also have been four wins for Inzaghi’s men as Juve earned a 1-1 draw at the San Siro.
