Man seriously injured in Sørlandet – investigated as a violent incident – NRK Sørlandet – Local news, TV and radio

– The police have chosen to open a case and investigate the incident as an incident of violence, says on-duty lawyer and police attorney in the Agder police district, Sakar Hamawandi, in a press release.

A person has been arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm after a man was sent to Flekkefjord hospital with serious injuries on Friday night.

The accused is a man in his 40s. He has been questioned and does not admit guilt.

According to the police, the man has been released, but still has the status of accused.

The police are also working on a hypothesis that the injuries are due to a bicycle accident.

Several witnesses on the spot

Several people were at the scene when the incident is said to have taken place.

It is because of information from these witnesses that the police arrested and charged the man in his 40s.

A number of witness interviews still remain.

– These will be taken beyond Saturday afternoon, Hamawandi states.

– Can you say something about the relationship between aggrieved and accused?

– We can not agree with that at the moment.

According to the police, there is nothing to indicate that objects or weapons have been used.

Forensic scientists have been at the scene and secured technical clues.

Does not rule out that the injuries may be due to a bicycle accident

Police have also been informed that the victim was exposed to a bicycle accident earlier in the day on Friday.

– At present, the police can not rule out that the injured party suffered serious injuries in connection with the bicycle accident, Hamawandi says.

– So the course of events is currently unclear?

– That is correct.

It is uncertain when the police will question the seriously injured man.

– At the moment we do not know if it is possible. He is in the hospital, we also look at when we can possibly take an interrogation, the police attorney tells NRK.
