The police headquarters in Freiburg recently had to deal with numerous cases of fraud involving “fake police officers”. Only on Thursday did an elderly lady from Titisee-Neustadt give a stranger a five-digit sum. An alleged police officer had previously called her and pretended that a close family member was involved in an accident. In Sulzburg in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district, a senior citizen was cheated out of a five-digit sum of money in this way. There were similar incidents in Emmendingen, but without the money being handed over.
