Car fire on E18 at Slependen – VG

A car is burning heavily on the E18 at Slependen in the direction of Oslo. No injuries were reported.

Vegtrafikksentralen øst reports Twitter that the E18 direction Oslo is closed due to the car fire.

– The emergency services are on their way to a fire in a car on the E18 at Slependen, direction Oslo. There is some smoke development, but the extent is otherwise unknown. The car is in the public transport area and the traffic passes slowly, the police in Oslo wrote on Twitter around 10.45.

The fire brigade reports that the car was overheated when they arrived at the scene.

Just before 11.34, the police report that the fire has been extinguished and two fields of the road have been opened. The public transport field is closed until further notice.

– The driver was taken to the emergency room by an ambulance for assessment. The police will investigate the case, the police write.

The head of operations in the Oslo police, Tor Gulbrandsen, told VG that there has been one person in the car and that the person in question has escaped.

– The person in question will be supervised by an ambulance, but no injuries have been reported so far.

Affects traffic

The operations manager says there is a lot of smoke development on the site, but that it is decreasing. The fire brigade is in the process of extinguishing.

– The road is temporarily blocked, but the traffic passes in one field towards Sandvika.

He says they do not yet know the cause of the fire.

There has also been an accident with three cars, one of which has a trailer, collided. According to the police on Twitter, the accident appears to be a rear-end collision.
