Cristiano Ronaldo faces a big pay cut due to Manchester United’s miserable form in the league.
The Red Devils were destroyed at the weekend as their defense opened up against Brighton and the south coast newcomers scored four goals
A stunned Ronaldo, whose future at United was in doubt, was seen laughing in disbelief as his side collapsed under pressure from the Seagulls.
The Portuguese veteran might not be laughing at his paycheck anytime soon thanks to a reported contract clause meaning he could face a hefty pay cut in the near future.
The deal reportedly sees some players receive a whopping 25% cut in their pay if United fail to qualify for the Champions League.

That means the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s weekly wages could drop from £385,000 a week to a meager £288,000. This would place him among some of the best players in the league.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly making around £385,000 a week at Manchester United, which translates to well over £20m annually.
The astronomical sum was a huge drop in wages from the £500,000 a week he was making at Italian champions Juventus when Ronaldo decided to return to the side where he first found global recognition as one of the world’s brightest footballing talents.
Reports from the Mail suggest Ronaldo will be able to negotiate his pay cut, which is set to take him to £288,000 every seven days in his current form.
The clause is intended to protect the club from losing revenue if they fail to qualify for the Champions League as the 20-time champions currently sit sixth and risk falling behind David Moyes’ West Ham.
The wages themselves are unlikely to upset Ronaldo financially as Wealthy Gorilla puts him at a net worth of £400million.
Which Premier League Players Earn More Than Ronaldo? Kevin De Bruyne is vital to Manchester City’s midfield
With a reported drop in wages for Cristiano Ronaldo, his weekly wages will fall among some of the Premier League’s biggest stars such as Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
Kevin de Bruyne
Key to a midfield that has dominated English football of late, he is considered one of the best players in the league thanks to his superb passing distance, driving runs from midfield and eye for goal.
His success reportedly nets the Belgian 30-year-old £385,000 a week with a contract running until 2025.
Jack Grealish
De Bruyne’s team-mate Jack Grealish makes £300,000 a week and will do so with City until 2027.
Grealish became the talisman of his hometown club Aston Villa with tricky wing magic allowing the England star to swoop and dribble to over £15m a year.
Rahem Sterling
The oil-backed city has three of the four players set to surpass Ronaldo on the rich list, and when the Qatar World Cup rolls into town it’s indeed England who could have one of the most expensive forward lines in the world.
At the center of Gareth Southgate’s plans could be Raheem Sterling, who, like Grealish, is said to be making a whopping £300,000 a week.

N’Golo Kante – The Best Of N’Golo Kante
Chelsea’s little French midfield wonder is N’Golo Kante, who has proved crucial to the Premier League and Champions League titles for the Blues.
The phrase “70% of the world is covered by water, the rest by N’Golo Kante” is a welcome tribute to a midfielder known for his ability to read the game and cover the space of two midfielders.
However, it turns out that 30% of the world could actually be covered by the size of the world champion’s paycheck as he rakes in £290,000 a week.
