A fire broke out on Thursday evening (May 12th, 2022) at around 8 p.m. in a recycling plant on Landwehrstraße in Darmstadt. The fire was under control at approximately 8:40 p.m. The fire brigade provides a fire watch. Due to the resulting smoke, the fire brigade issued a warning about odor nuisance.
According to initial findings, a battery caught fire on a conveyor belt for waste separation and caught fire in a machine, setting garbage on fire. The property damage is estimated at around EUR 100,000. Nobody was hurt. Third-party debt is excluded according to the current status.
