Canon releases a unique dual fisheye lens, the price is IDR 39 million

Canon has just launched the RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens to Indonesia. This lens is claimed to be the first lens in the world that can take stereoscopic 3D.

In addition to the camera released the camera mirrorless Canon EOS R5 C hybrid, Canon has also just launched its newest unique lens through the RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye to Indonesia. Canon’s goal with this dual fisheye lens is to produce content virtual reality (VR).

Canon The RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye is claimed to be the world’s first lens that can take stereoscopic 3D images at a 180-degree angle to create VR content with high optical quality. As we know, VR technology is growing in popularity and has been used in the entertainment, tourism, and education industries. In fact, in recent years, the sports industry has also introduced more and more VR videos.

“This lens is equipped with two fisheye lenses that produce a parallax effect that can be used to create 180-degree 3D VR images. When paired to camera mirrorless EOS R5 or EOS R5 C, this lens allows users to take advantage of the 8K recording capabilities to produce ultra-high video,” said Syailendra Kamdani, Head of Marketing Division at Canon Business Unit PT Datascrip.

The Canon RF 5.2mm F/2.8L Dual Fisheye is part of Canon’s new ecosystem, namely the EOS Virtual Reality System (VR System) which consists of cameras Canon EOS R series (EOS R5 & R5 C), VR-only RF lenses and EOS VR Utility software. With the EOS VR System, images are captured using only one camera with one CMOS image sensor.

The light that enters each lens The Canon RF 5.2mm F/2.8L Dual Fisheye is captured by the CMOS image sensor in a single camera. This is very efficient as it cuts down on the conventional VR video production flow that requires camera alignment and synchronization before shooting, as well as having to fuse images together in post-production.

Users can easily convert videos to standard VR formats and process them using the EOS VR Utility software, and they can even be processed using Adobe Premiere Pro via the EOS VR Plug-in software.

This lens is equipped with two fisheye lenses f/2.8-F/16 and a focal length of 60 mm with manual focusing, and has the high optical quality typical of Canon’s L series lenses. The price for this lens is IDR 39,770,000.
