KIEV – Troops Ukraine has destroyed two makeshift bridges in eastern Ukraine, thwarting efforts Russia to move troops and tanks across the river. This was disclosed by a Ukrainian official.

Images released by the Ukrainian military on Wednesday showed two adjoining pontoon bridges destroyed. The bridge is reported to be on the Donets Siverskyi River in the Luhansk region.

According to a report two separate Ukrainian attacks, within 24 hours of each other, destroyed a bridge and several Russian military vehicles in the process.

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces have once again destroyed the (Russian) pontoon crossing across the Donets Seversky,” Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haidai said on Telegram.

“Bilohorivka is now an outpost of Luhansk Oblast where (Russia) keeps trying to cross the river, but ends up feeding the fish,” Haidai added. Washington ExaminerThursday (12/5/2022).

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the country’s 17th Tank Brigade was involved in the attack on the attempted river crossing. Drone footage released by Ukraine showed smoke billowing from the riverbank and two bridges partially submerged in water. Many tanks and vehicles also appear to have been destroyed.

The bridge has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian forces to stop convoys of Russian military vehicles moving through the country.

In April, Ukrainian special forces claimed to have blown up a bridge in eastern Ukraine as Russian troops drove a military vehicle over it. The bridge appears to have been set up by Ukrainian special forces, who placed explosives under it in anticipation of the column of Russian troops heading there.
