OM’s interest in Mohamed-Ali Cho is not new and has been filtering for several weeks now. But the case got a little carried away yesterday, with several reports pointing to a rapprochement between the Marseille club and SCO Angers, to which the young 18-year-old striker belongs.
It’s first Le10Sport which announced yesterday on its site that an agreement had been reached between OM and Angers for a transfer of 12 M€ plus bonuses. The online media clarified, however, that OM had not yet reached an agreement with Mohamed-Ali Cho, whose salary demands were currently considered too high by OM.
Angers want around €12m for Cho
A few hours later, FootMercato confirmed that the two clubs had agreed on the amount of the transfer (€12m), but specified that the two teams had a dispute over the terms of payment. Angers would like a cash payment when the Marseille club would like to pay in installments. FM also confirmed that OM did not yet have an agreement with the player, “very greedy in salary”. According to FM, Betis Sevilla and Eintracht Frankfurt are also interested.
In today’s edition, The Team confirms OM’s interest in the French international hopefuls and reveals that Jorge Sampaoli has validated the technical profile of Mohamed-Ali Cho, a fast striker capable of playing in the middle but also on one side (4 goals in Ligue 1 this season). The sports daily, however, ensures that there is no final agreement for the moment between OM and Angers, nor any decision taken on the player’s side.
The sports daily does not exclude the possibility that Mohamed-Ali Cho will stay one more season in Angers, which does not however seem to be in the interest of his club since his contract expires in 2023 (unless it does not extend). Regarding the wishes of the SCO, L’Equipe explains that the Angevin club hopes to recover between 12 and 15 M€ and intends to insert a percentage on a future resale.
