WEST EDGE – Soldier Israel has shot dead veteran Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh while covering Zionist military attacks on Palestinian camps in the West Bank. Despite the international outrage, the Zionist regime has argued that the shots were allegedly from Palestinian gunmen.

Shireen, a Palestinian-US journalist, has been described as an “icon of Palestinian coverage”. He was shot dead in the face during coverage in Jenin, the Israeli-occupied West Bank, on Wednesday.

The tragic event has sparked global outrage, with the European Union urging an independent investigation. United Nations human rights chief Michelle Bachelet said she was shocked by the tragedy. “Impunity must end,” said Bachelet.

This is how the anger-dominated international community reacted:

In New York, the US ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, called Abu Akleh’s death horrific and called for a transparent investigation.

“Protecting American citizens and journalists is our highest priority,” he said.

Thomas-Greenfield said Shireen Abu Akleh did an amazing interview with him on the West Bank last November. “I went from there with incredible respect for him,” he said.
