Car sales in Russia fell six times

In April, 78.5% fewer cars were sold in Russia than a year earlier. In just a month, 28,000 new passenger cars left the showrooms.

Compared to March of this year, sales fell three times. In April, Lada took the first place in the sales rating with a result of 6377 cars. Kia, Hyundai and Renault follow. The share of these four brands is 53% of the market. In the four months of 2022, 294 thousand new cars were sold in the Russian Federation, which is 43% less than in the same period in 2021.

Among the main reasons for the drop in sales, analysts cite an increase in prices caused by a change in the real exchange rate of the dollar and the euro, the closure of many preferential lending programs, as well as a decrease in the purchasing power of many Russians.
