“The enemy did not carry out any offensive operations in the direction of Kharkiv. The occupying forces went into defense to stop the movement of our troops. During the successful operation of the Ukrainian armed forces, Pitomniki, Kharkiv region, was released,” the report said.
The Ukrainian Army General Staff also reported that the occupiers were disrupting mobile networks in the occupied territories of Kharkiv region to prevent the transmission of information about the movement of Russian troops.
“Many communities have been left without electricity and water,” the report said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously said that the Ukrainian armed forces are gradually pushing Russian troops out of Kharkiv.
On May 5, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army, Valery Zaluzhny, announced that the Ukrainian Defense Forces had launched a counterattack in Kharkiv and Izjuma.
