According to the BBC Pecci was murdered on the tourist island of Baru. Pecci and his wife were on a private beach when two gunmen approached the couple.
Pecci is married to journalist Claudia Aguilera. She says to the newspaper Time that the men entered the island from the sea ‘in a small boat or jet ski’. The prosecutor is said to have been hit by two bullets in his face and back. “Without a word they shot him.”

Hours before Pecci was shot dead, Aguilera . posted a message on Instagram in which she announced that she was pregnant. In the photo, Pecci hugs his wife, baby shoes are in the foreground in the sand.
