Red Bulls say goodbye to two old hands and one youngster
Frank Mauer, Philip Gogulla and Bastian Eckl leave Red Bull Munich. Mauer joined the Red Bulls in 2015 and has won three league titles in that time. Mauer contributed 187 points (79 goals, 108 assists) in a total of 338 PENNY DEL games. There were also 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in 45 Champions League games.
Frank Mauer: “Moving to Munich was the best decision of my career. I haven’t regretted a single day, but everything comes to an end. It was a great and successful time in Munich. In the seven years, the team has reached the finals five times. Someone has to copy us first!”
Christian Winkler, Managing Director Sports Red Bull Eishockey: “Frank was an essential part of our successful squad for over seven years. With him we have mastered the CHL qualification seven times, reached a semi-final and final participation in the European premier class and won three championship titles. We wish Frank and his family all the best for the future and thank you for the great years together.”
For Gogulla, too, his engagement ends in the Bavarian capital. The 34-year-old joined the Red Bulls in 2019 and has 93 points (42 goals, 51 assists) in 147 PENNY DEL games. In the Champions League, Gogulla contributed nine points (five goals, four assists) in 20 games.
Philip Gogulla: “Even if it wasn’t an easy time because of Corona, I had three nice years in Munich. The organization gave me a great reception right from the start and I had a lot of fun on the ice with the whole team. Red Bull Munich is a great club, which I would like to take this opportunity to thank once again.”
Christian Winkler: “In his three seasons here in Munich, Philip was an important cornerstone of the team, in which he also took on responsibility. We would like to thank him for his time with the Red Bulls and wish him and his family the very best.”
The Red Bulls would also like to thank Bastian Eckl, who will also be leaving Munich. In his three seasons in Munich, the 21-year-old played 50 games in the German Ice Hockey League (one goal and one assist) and seven more games (also one goal and one assist) in the Champions Hockey League.
